Woodstock is 50 Years Old
As August fades into Fall, celebrating Woodstock and Hippie Vans during the 50th Anniversary of the event is also fading just as the phenomenal event of 1969 settled into its place in history.
With celebrations across the country and, in fact – around the world, this “peace, love and music festival” continues to be an iconic event of all time. And the Hippie Vans that are associated with it live on as collectibles.
Woodstock set the stage for future festivals and gatherings of all kinds. The annual Burning Man celebration and Bhakti Fest come to mind. As do gatherings focused on the beloved Hippie Bus and other Volkswagens.
As Woodstock Hits 50, the Volkswagen Microbus Is Now a Collectible
While reminiscing the 50-year old Woodstock, this delightful article from Car & Driver profiles the iconic VW ‘Hippie Van’ with a nostalgic look back for anyone old enough to remember the time (and possible participation in the festival,) as well as anyone young enough to be in awe of either the festival itself, or the iconic VW Bus.
Featured in this in-depth article is this “wildly painted” bus, lovingly re-created by Dr. Robert Hieronimus and some friends, to relive his original bus and trip in it to Woodstock.
Another delightful look back in celebrating Woodstock is a wonderful documentary: Woodstock – 3 Days that Defined a Generation 2019. Read more about the film, the 50th Anniversary, and view collector items for sale at Woodstock.com
